First, let’s understand how this works.
The tabs that shown here
are created in theme option ( Miscellaneous > Consent Setting ). Each Consent Item is for each tab in the frontend.
Now, there’re two type of the consent item.
- Plain text – this mode will only show the plain text without the on/off button for cookie. This can be used to show the privacy policy content.
- Cookie Consent – this mode will be used for asking cookie consent on particular embedded code or page item(wrapper). Normally this can be used with Google Analytic code or other marketing tracking codes, etc.
Script Type in Cookie Content mode
There’re two types of script type.
- Snippet – with this option, you can put the snippet code such as analytic code and choose the placement of the code. If users don’t provide consent for the snippet, the code will not be appeared in users’ browser.
- Page Item Consent – With this mode, you can now choose to let user give a consent on particular wrapper, column, video item.
2.1 – Create a new Consent item in admin panel, fill information and select the type as ‘Page Item Content’.2.2 – In page builder, click to edit the wrapper(also apply to Column and Video item) and you can now see the consent item that created in admin panel in Privacy dropdown box. Choose the one from there.
The result will be like this if user doesn’t give consent.
Custom link to privacy setting
After user press ‘accept’ button or ‘save setting’. The cookie of the setting will now be collected and the popup box won’t be shown anymore. You can put this code in anywhere on your website to let user change their preference.
